About the project

From historic art galleries to award-winning theatre productions, London has an international reputation for its vibrant cultural and entertainment scene. However, during the recent UK budget review it was announced that significant cuts to art funding would be implemented over the next few years. Organisations need to reapply for grants, the UK Film Council will be axed, several libraries face closure – these are just some of the effects of these austerity measures.

Arts & Cuts is a multimedia website dedicated to investigating how communities across the capital will be impacted by, and respond to, these changes. Through extensive research, interviews, video and audio clips, graphs and charts, and social media tools, we will provide the latest news and information.

Most importantly, we want to connect with people and hear your stories. What does this mean for local projects? Could less government influence be beneficial? Will this inspire new ways of financing creative endeavours? Your input is essential.

Thanks.
